Blending History, Light and Design
When we were handed the keys to our new studio in the Historic Old Rainier Bottling Plant Building in Georgetown, Seattle, we knew we had found the perfect home for our firm. Not only is the building listed a historic landmark, but it also evokes the character of another city that feels like home to us—Brooklyn. Our founder, Lauren Caron, launched the firm while living and working in Brooklyn, where she got her start in a historic brick loft that felt much like this one.
With its industrial roots, our studio space presents some challenges—its railroad-style layout means natural light only filters in from the front doors and windows. The front room is bathed in sunlight, while each space that follows becomes progressively moodier. Rather than fighting this, we embraced it, designing distinct zones that celebrate the light and shadow, creating both bright, airy spaces and intimate, cozy nooks for work and relaxation.
The front room, with its abundant daylight, is perfect for our showroom and client meetings, allowing us to review samples and present designs in the best possible light. The adjoining space serves as our office, where we gather around a central table, surrounded by our library of hard and soft finishes. In the farthest room, we designed a kitchenette and dining area, blending function with warmth.
Each space’s color palette is thoughtfully tailored to its natural light, enhancing the mood and atmosphere. Inspired by nature, we chose warm, inviting tones to foster a sense of calm, creativity, and inspiration—the perfect backdrop for designing the beautiful interiors we’re known for.
